Master of Science
in Business Administration (MSBA)
The Master of Science in Business Administration (MSBA)
is a graduate business degree that offers the opportunity
to specialize in a particular functional area of business.
The degree is offered by many universities (e.g., University
of Colorado, University of Florida, Iowa State University,
San Francisco State University, San Diego State University,
University of British Columbia, and many more). In addition,
many other business schools offer a master of science degree
(which is typically equivalent to an MSBA) in specialized
areas such as MIS, Finance, and Accounting.
One advantage of the MSBA in MIS at Texas Tech is the emphasis
on the management of technology. All course work and projects
are related to information technology. As the driving force
behind America’s leadership in innovation and productivity
improvements, technology continues at the forefront of progress
and change. The MSBA at Texas Tech provides cutting edge
knowledge in IT together with communication, leadership,
decision making, and strategy skills that will position
graduates for continued success in the workplace. This combination
of in-depth training in IT and managerial skills is unique
to the MSBA program. Courses are taught by award-winning
teaching faculty from Texas Tech.
Training in Project Management and Six Sigma is provided during the MSBA-MIS program. The Six Sigma Yellow
Belt Certification is included as part of the program. This
innovative feature of the MSBA program at Texas Tech is
not offered by competing graduate business programs. If
students desire, they can take further training toward additional
belt rankings for Six Sigma or project management
certification.
